This is a remix of the great work of several gentlemen before me. This version is specific to the slightly different gap size found on the MP Select Mini V2 vs. the V1 unit, owing primarily to a nut of a narrower width, resulting in a larger gap to be filled by the feed guide. This version also cleans up the print slightly eliminating the need to bore out the feed hole after printing. You will still need to snap off the two front designed-in supports with some pliers after printing.

Entirely by accident, after I finalized this cleaned up design - because I wanted the part in black and the only black material I had was ABS - I found that ABS is a far more suitable choice for this print, than PLA. The brittle rigidity of the ABS helps in maintaining proper alignment, and the slightly larger feed hole used in this version eliminates the need for tweaking the filament guide positioning after installation.

Print Settings

Printer:

Malyan M200 / Monoprice Select Mini v2

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Resolution:

0.13125

Infill:

20%

Notes:

As this accessory/enhancement is meant specifically for the Monoprice Select Mini V2, it's worth pointing out the importance of optimal resolution as well documented on the excellent http://mpselectmini.com. It's also worth downloading Pronterface/PrintRun for your platform and reviewing PID AutoTuning before undertaking any serious work with this printer.

Post-Printing

Snap the modeled-in front overhang supports off with needle nosed pliers then just drop the filament guide into place while compressing the filament feed spring/hinge as shown by jspooner or nuggyblake and you'll be good to go. The component can remain permanently installed for use will all filament, flexible or otherwise.
Category: 3D Printer Accessories
