Monoprice Ultimate D6 5015 Fan Duct

Based on the 5015 fan duct for the Railcore II original design by Hangtight. I have had a Monoprice Ultimate for 2 years and wanted to build my own 3D printer from scratch. Short list was between Railcore II and VORON 2, which is why I came across this duct. I decided on the VORON 2 by the way and so used the Monoprice Ultimate to print the required parts. The Monoprice Ultimate (D6) is a fantastic ABS printer and but not so good for PLA because the part cooling is inadequate. This 5015 Fan Duct is designed to solve this issue and it does, bigtime. I wanted a compact fan duct which still enabled you to see the entire nozzle as it printed. A fan duct that used a 5015 blower fan and did not protrude into the print area and thus reduce print volume. I also wanted to use a PINDA probe and wanted to mount it as close as possible to the nozzle. Many ducts out there are all too bulky and complex and often cased a reduction in print volume. I really liked the Railcore II duct by Hangtight for its compact elegant simplicity so I remixed it to mount on this printer. The performance of this fan duct is outstanding and well known. I think I have achieved what I set out to do and I hope you like it. This thing is made up of only three printed parts: Fan duct - 2 hour print Base plate - 1 hour print Lower fan mount - 40 mins. To mount the duct, you must be prepared to remove the bolts that attach the print head to the extruder block. This will be subsequently replaced with longer bolts and I leave that up to you to source the required length of those bolts. It has been a while since I did this, so I don't exactly remember the sizes. All bolts and nuts are M3. There is a square M3 nut that slots into the PINDA probe mount and an M3 bolt to secure the probe in place. The Fan Brace is held on by long bolts that go through the top of the hotend fan mount holes and screw directly into the plastic of the Fan Brace.
