This statue is one of only seven of Cleopatra to survive from the ancient world. It shows archaizing in the body form and is meant to remind the viewer of the many generations that Cleopatra’s family ruled Egypt. This is a political statement in the form of art. The face, however, gives the true date, and the details tell us the identity of the queen depicted. For example, Cleopatra was known for her triple cobra diadem.
