Monster Claw - Halloween

Monster Claw - Halloween

thingiverse

This is a monster claw I developed last year for Halloween. It was a fun piece! I wear large size gloves and these fit perfectly with me and a light glove underneath. My girlfriend has a set too and we reduced them by .08% I believe and they fit pretty well as well. She's in the Plaque Doctor mask wearing my set of claws in the pics. It's also worth mentioning this is a left handed glove. OH NO WHAT ABOUT THE RIGHT HANDERS? Screw em! Or just mirror on the X-axis and get your right handed glove ;) If you can.... I recommend reinforcing the rings in Blender or something else. I stopped there since I was satisfied but I recommend it after using these. You can also visit my TIG Monster Claw TIG welding rod feeder thingy and download the STL from there. There is a modified ring that can be added to this model and it's just as creepy as these. I ran rubber string you'd find for beading through the holes to attach them all together but you can sew them into a real glove too. I've uploaded the correct hand plate so you can now use the block guides for the rubber string to run the thumbs so you can have opposable thumbs! Acetone bath recommended on these for an awesome monster skinnish finish! I later turned these claws into a useful tool for TIG welding and you can find that model here: TIG Monster Clawhttp://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1682883 Update: Added Ring_Stay.stl file. This can be used to overlay then join into all the knuckles and fingers. You'll have to resize it for each one but hey, it's a start! Probably this coming Halloween I'll add in those for each one and then re-upload. Print Settings Printer Brand: LulzBot Printer: TAZ 5 Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: .5 Infill: 40 Notes: Place these claws upside down as in the backside of the claw, not the tip, goes to the platform. The tip points straight up, and honestly I set a slight angle upwards so just the backside of the finger plate is sitting on the plate while the rest angles slightly upwards. The supports give it kind of a nasty look on the backside but because it already looks creepy it adds to the creepyness so I recommend not cleaning these up as much as you would a work of art. A lil acetone and you'll bleed down all the excess into an even more creepy look. Acetone bath recommended on these for an awesome monster skinnish finish! The top side is the least functional part and with good support and print speed will come out pretty nice looking. If you want it perfect, then you've hopefully printed 3d a few times and know how to make that happen since it requires some clean up too ;) You can try printing on the sides but my original models without guide paths (and when I was printing too hot and too fast) came out bad. Slow down and it might turn out fantastic! I recommend 3mm walls to make this tough and more heat resistant. I recommend .5mm spacing on your supports to make it sturdy and take out the spaghetti which usually occurs if you print too fast, print too hot, or don't build good support on small detailed parts that require detail all around. 20-30 print speeds with 1.08 up scale to the model before printing gives great results for a TIG Monster Finger going on a Large size glove that's a bit loose on a Large size wearer with thin fingers. Upscale to 1.20 or higher for those larger meat hooks.
