The object permanence box is often found in the Montessori infant/toddler environment. It is introduced to children when they are old enough to sit up without assistance, generally around 8–12 months of age. The direct aim of the material is to help children develop their sense of object permanence. It also indirectly helps them develop focus and concentration and gives them practice developing fine motor skills through the whole-hand grasp.

Source: https://montessoritraining.blogspot.com/2014/01/develop-object-permanence-montessori-infants-toddlers_22.html

No sharp corners.

I printed the parts with a 0.6mm nozzle and 0.3mm layer height, 15% gyroid infill, but a 0.4mm nozzle will of course work fine too. Only box.stl requires supports, for the large hole.

I did not include knobs to avoid the need for supports. I used these knobs: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077C92XXN/ but the screws included were unsuitable as they are not flat and too long. Instead, I used an M4/#8 20mm flat head machine, or wood screws.

Again, to avoid supports, I designed the front cover separately. It goes between the insert and the knob.

Box and insert were printed with Proto-pasta Daffodil Wood Matte HTPLA, the front cover with TTYT3D's Shiny Silk PLA.

If you like what I'm doing…

…consider buying me a coffee.
