Few things in life are as simple as an early morning on the farm, as demonstrated in this scene lasercut from foamcore. This piece is one of several vignette designed around Inventor Studio's Lasercut Foamcore Scenes, a simple interlocking geometry system for foamcore. Like this scene, but want it include pigs? Post-Printing Lasercutting & Assembly Instructions An SVG file has been included for each layer of this design, together with a layered Inkscape SVG file containing all the elements. Cutting the pieces on your laser should be very straightforward if you've cut and engraved foamcore before. Multi-pass cuts using reduced power are recommended, because this reduces the amount of foam shrinkage. The cost of colored foamcore is often much higher than plain white. Sometimes a scene element calls for an unavailable color. Some elements may be best rendered using more than a single color plus the white that's revealed through the engraving process. The piece of foamcore used for the rooster in this scene was marked up using a Sharpie before being engraved and cut. My daughter Mei-Mei insisted on coloring the cow's udders as the scene was being assembled. Some layers in this design involve gluing different colored pieces onto the base part. Look carefully at the photo, paying attention to whether the additional pieces are glued in front or in back of the base piece. Inexpensive bailing wire and painters tape are used to attach hanging elements of the scene.
