I needed a lamp for a re-creation of Chalmun's Cantina from "Star Wars: A New Hope" that I'm building for Halloween. Lamps like these are visible throughout the scene (see photo). So this is what I came up with. It is light weight, can be attached to canvas backdrops with double-stick tape, and will stay lit for HOURS with some CR2032 wafer batteries.

It consists of three parts; the lamp base, the lamp domes, and the LED holders (courtesy of skriver at Thingiverse. The LED holders require batteries and LEDs and that's it. Bend the LED leads correctly and the battery will snap into the holder and stay there.

PLEASE see print instructions for some important details.

Print instructions

To Print The Domes:
Set your infill to ZERO percent, and set Print Settings->Layers and Perimeters->Horizontal Shells->Solid Layers->Bottom to ZERO. You'll need two.

I tried printing these in vase mode, but the results were inconsistent. Your results may vary. I also tried using white PLA, but that was too dense for good light output. Generic transparent, 'natural;' or 'clear' PLA gave good results for me.

The domes are designed to be a press-fit into the base.

To Print The Base:
Set your infill density to suit your needs. I used 10% to reduce weight. Black PLA suited my needs as this will be used as a scene prop. You'll need one of these.

To Print the LED Holder:
Since they aren't seen, I used leftover filament and cranked out a whole bunch of these. Refer to the link to the Thingiverse thingy.
