This cufflink features a memento made of polished steel and enamel. It resembles an old globe but has two parts, creating a mosaic-like effect when they are brought together. Each half can be independently fastened to any shirt sleeve and displays different views, one side being the map's obverse and the other the reverse side of the world as depicted on Mercator maps, designed by Gerardus Mercator in 1569.
