Mostly Printed CNC Quick Tool Mount

Mostly Printed CNC Quick Tool Mount

thingiverse

I made this thing to allow for quick tool changes on the Mostly Printed CNC IE. The mount on the CNC is designed to be printed in the same orientation as you would mount it, for maximum strength. If you prefer to print it in pieces, print the bottom, tophalf and cap and then insert an M5 lock nut in the bottom part, and screw the three parts together with an all-thread M5 rod. You do a tool change by unscrewing an M4 wing-screw out of the insert's M4 square nut, push the tool downwards (possibly a delicate hit with a hammer) and it slides out, you slide a new tool in and pushes it upwards. Screwing the wing-screw back into the M4 square nut, securing the tool. The 80mm spindle mount is for a Chinese 2.2kW water-cooled spindle off Ebay. It needs 6x M8 80mm screws. Inspired by Lucan07's Mostly Printed CNC QR Toolmount, but differs in that the insert has a dovetail which minimizes slack between the mating of the parts and that the tool is hanging in the mount. Print Settings Printer Brand: CEL Printer: Robox Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Doesn't Matter Resolution: Draft (0.3mm) works, or normal (0.2mm) Infill: 60% Notes: Haven't actually tested to print without supports, but very little supports are emitted with AutoMaker.
