MotionDrop, the dead drop bicycle

The dead drop-anonymous, offline, peer to peer file-sharing network in public space, mounted in a static, brick or concrete wall. Until now. Introducing the motion drop: The Idea of the motion drop is to take the static offline file sharing idea and put it on the go. Let’s say you have some files you want to share with a group of friends, but for some reason you don’t want to use or don’t have access to the internet. All you have to do is let them know your location and they can grab the files on the spot. Let’s say you’re on your way to a collage class, or a meeting with your trusty bike but want to share information with your friends; just tell them where your bike will be and they can grab the files there. Let’s Imagine a community bicycle that anyone can use when they need to, but when its used a memento is left of its travels. A photo, a letter, a poem, some kind of story, the history of were the bike has been or where it might be going. When the drive is filled, a community event is held to relive the history and the travels of that particular motion drop. Design: The design is intended to be as simple as possible but to also permit the use of a wide range of flash drive sizes. There are 4 pieces in total. The outer case, the inner case, the cap and the spacer. It’s meant to be mounted on any tube on your bike with tie wraps. The tie wraps are designed in such a way that they will securely hold the inner and outer case. Right now there are different sizes for the spacer ranging from 4mm thick all the way to 17mm. To select the adequate spacer simply measure the gap from the end of the flash drive to the wall and choose the closets spacer for that gap. The files are intended to be printed as plated. There’s the need for a small amount of support material on the outer case. This is a design intent. In order to have a tight fitting cap, which has a 0.2mm gap all way around, the rough surface finish left by the support material was needed. All pieces were printed with 2 perimeter layers and 15% infill. For the support material(in simplify3d) 45%infil was used with 4 layers of 75% dense infill. Ride it, live it, share it. Motion drop.
