This is an add on or upgrade or bodge to FoodieHao's quad watch winder that can be found on Cults3d site. https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/jewelry/quad-watch-winder The benefit of this design comapred to ones that can be found on this site is that it's designed to work on one motor rather than 4 and with a dedicated controller for said motors. The original designer has specified good parts and electronics and that would probably be the best option should you choose to build that winder. However, I'm cheap and happened to have a spare Ryobi battery operated screw driver at hand. I dislike them so I dismantled it. Reasoning: It contains a motor with a decent planetary reduction gear, a battery and charging circuit (and charger) in a rather neat package. Since this setup is longer than the one specified by the original designer I decided to incorporate a gear system to allow placemenet below the false bottom of the design. Here I used Wind up bathtub boat https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3554489 by GreenDot. I modified his gear system so that it would fit and added a holder for motor and an extra bearing sleeve (which I forgot to install before gluing so had to print in two halves). I also used hot glue to hold the motor in place to prevent it from turning instead of driving the gears. Some notes: I did take the planetary gear apart and replaced factory grease to molybdenum grease and it runs a little quieter. The gearing on this particular make/model (RYOBI R4SD) makes the output at 180rpm but other brands/models can have different output rpm's The sizing of everything is specifically for my screw driver and its parts. I would like it to turn slower though so I might add something to either control the power input side or even additional gearing (though I doubt that's a good idea.) I'd also like some way of changing the direction every now and then and maybe a start stop timer. But all these I'd like to have in an mechanical/electromechanical form rather than plc. I'll update when/if I get round to that. I printed with with 3 perimeters but most parts were .35 resolution with the bevel gears at higher resolution .15 or .10 even. I used a drill bit in reverse to ream out the shafts on the gear box and parts spin freely. leave a little play on the incorrectly named vertaxl eand vertgear (these are horizontal when assembled).
