Motorized Lazy Susan

Motorized Lazy Susan

This is a quick design that I whipped up using a synchronous AC motor from an old microwave oven and a few ball bearings that I had laying around. I am planning to use this for acrylic pour painting, but it could also be used for other applications such as product displays or photogrammetry. Printed parts needed: -- (1x) Motor mount -- (1x) Motor shaft reciever -- (4x) Bearing holder In addition to the printed parts, I used: -- (2x) 18" x 18" x 1/2" Plywood boards -- (4x) Small ball bearings -- (1x) Synchronous AC motor (mine rotates at 6 rpm) -- (1x) Power cord -- (4x) 1/4-20 Machine screws, 1" long -- (4x) 1/4-20 Nuts (Lock nuts would be best, but regular nuts seem to work okay) -- (16x) Short wood screws The motor that I used came out of an old microwave oven, and was used to rotate the platter while the food is cooking. This little motor has little plastic gears inside, so stalling the motor out is not advised. The shaft receiver plate was designed specifically to fit the shaft of my particular motor, so you may want to print it first and test it with your motor before going all-out. I soldered the power cord directly onto the motor prongs so that it starts rotating the moment that it is plugged in. Since I am using it for painting, I didn't want an exposed switch present to get clogged with paint. This design is an experiment, but anyone who wants to try it out or work on it is welcome to do so. Good luck.
