This is intended to be used as a cradle for the phone to go with my car dock. I published the mounting plate I'm using as a separate thing here http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:15432. This model just has a blank section on the back to attach a mounting bracket for whatever stand you want to use. It's intended for a 40x40 mm square block to be attached there. It can be a bit taller but the width is already pretty tight. Note that I'm sizing this to fit my phone inside of the plastic case that was included for free when I bought it. It's a pretty thin case so it should fit without the case but you may want to consider some foam, rubber or other type of material to account for the extra size. I had to cancel my initial test print before it was done. It came out "done enough" so it seems unlikely I will ever make a full print out of it as intended. I was mostly finished designing this on paper when I noticed Seanz0rz’ similar (and we can all admit nicer looking) thing seen here http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:14620. His is too small for my Galaxy Nexus so I finished this up. I made some changes to this based on his work so credit to him. This ended up beefier then it needs to be but I'm satisfied with it. Considering the 2-3 hour print time and the 'good enough' status I don't plan to revise this for at least a long while. I would suggest the following changes if any one else wants to revise it in the mean time: Shrink the top clamp horizontally as it partially covers the power button. Reduce the height of the main piece. Mine came out pretty good and is truncated in height. Add cutouts to reduce plastic. Especially one to uncover the volume button. Enlarge the screw head cutouts to fit washers Additional mounting plates for common existing car docks Update 1/18/12 I've uploaded a slightly modified set of design files labeled v1.2/v2.2. These include some slight changes and are modified to hold a larger case. Instructions Make a 40x40 square with the mounting for whatever your going to attach this to (see my example above). Snap this into the back of the larger piece. Mine snapped in tightly but I melted them together anyway. Use 4-40 or similar sized machine screws (hole printed at 4mm diameter but needs to be loose enough to slide) to mount the sliding top to the bottom. They need to be about 3/4 in long. I filled the screw head cutouts with epoxy so I don't have to prevent them from spinning while tightening the nuts. Skeinforge added extra supports to the top piece since I forgot to turn them off. Didn't seem worth printing again to test the built in support.
