The maschine-pistol 44 (Machine Pistol) was not actually a machine pistol, but a name to disguise it as it was actually an assault weapon because Adolf Hitler did not want any assault rifles being made and only wanted machine pistols. It wasn’t until he discovered it and after seeing it, he liked it and it was then created and renamed as the (STG-44) Sturmgewher 44.
