I was having difficulty drilling the holes needed in the Z rails for the MPCNC Primo. I used stainless steel pipe and not having a drill press they were hard to drill accurate holes. My drill kept slipping so I made this to help. This drill jig is based on the design by Heathicus (https://www.thingiverse.com/Heathicus) but it was made from scratch in Tinkercad.

Print 2 of them and then slide them over the Z Rail rod end. The rod will butt up to the end of the jig because of the little flange on the end. The holes are spaced out 75mm and the first being 22.5mm from the end as per the Primo documentation. The holes are 6mm wide. CLamp the whole assembly to something holding the pipe and jig in place, fill the holes with cutting oil and drill away.

I used a cobalt 7/32" drill bit and a low drill speed and they drilled out very easily without a center punch mark.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Prusa

Printer:

i3 MK3

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Resolution:

0.3

Infill:

50

Filament: Prusament PLA

Category: Hand Tools
