MPCNC XY-Z Cable Chain

MPCNC XY-Z Cable Chain

thingiverse

This is another MPCNC cable chain for the Z axis electronics. The main difference is that it is connected to the XY carriage instead of being connected to the Z axis straight. This potentially will reduce the amount of torque applied to the Z axis from the chain itself. The chains listed at thingiverse are either too small or too large for my taste. Besides I wanted to have it printed as links in place. The small one I saw I was unable to even break into pieces after printing. So I based the design on the large one: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1429885 It printed nicely. But was too big. The chain here was scaled down about 75%. With tolerance between links adjusted accordingly. As a test I printed 3 piece section. 6 and 9 section files are essentially the same. The aluminum angle is 1 inch one. The angle mount file is for one only. Another one needs to be printed mirrored from the same file. The mounts are for NEMA 23 motors. SKP files are provided for convenience and modifications. For NEMA 17 steppers angle mounts need to be modified! I might add it later. The chain is attached to the angle with a clamp. However the end link is designed so it can be secured by the #6 screws too.
