This mounts onto the lower part blower fan duct and is used for measuring resonance via Klipper. I used a USB cable as the way to connect the MPU-9250 to the Raspberry Pi.

This is now part of mainline Klipper, so no modification needed!

This was the breakout board I used, though there seem to be lots of clones as well which would fit too: https://www.amazon.com/HiLetgo-Gyroscope-Acceleration-Accelerator-Magnetometer/dp/B01I1J0Z7Y/

Wiring:

You'll want 4 wires (a USB cable with the ends cut off works well). Solder/connect the cables to be coming out of the top of the board. Connect VCC to the Pi's 3V3, GND to GND, SDA to Pi:Pin 3 (GPIO2/SDA1), and SCL to Pi:Pin 5 (GPIO3/SCL1).

Mounting:

Put two M3x4mm (the same ones spec'd for the Voron) heat set inserts into the two larger holes in the middle. Use an M3x6mm or M3x8mm to secure the accelerometer to the mount. Then, remove the two lower screws on the front of the Afterburner, and use two M3x20mm screws to secure the mount to the Afterburner.

Configuration:

Follow the instructions in the Klipper “Measuring Resonances” documentation (setting up the Pi as an MCU, and enabling I2C on the Pi). Add to your printer.cfg:

[mcu rpi]
serial: /tmp/klipper_host_mcu

[mpu9250]
i2c_mcu: rpi
i2c_bus: i2c.1

[resonance_tester]
accel_chip: mpu9250
probe_points:
    100, 100, 20 # an example

These steps should also work for the cheaper MPU-6050 (https://www.amazon.com/HiLetgo-MPU-6050-Accelerometer-Gyroscope-Converter/dp/B00LP25V1A/), though this mount would have to have the inside holes modified slightly to fit. Let me know if you are interested in a mount for that and I can do my best to produce one.
