thingiverse
I printed the FlexRex but felt that its original design could benefit from sturdier, child-proof links. The link type I envisioned plays to the strengths of 3D printing and should withstand more force before coming apart. I remade the FlexRex from scratch using new drawings, resulting in a model similar yet distinct from the original. Notably, I omitted the last link on its tail, considering it could pose a choking hazard for toddlers. The updated design features a mouth that makes its teeth more prominent. The revised model measures approximately 20cm long and should scale well either up or down without requiring supports. I added my emblem to the bottom of the tail; if this infringes upon any license or convention, I can release an alternate version without it. If you'd like to create your own articulated toys or models using the link I shared, I've provided the STL file used for splitting the model. Use the "Ledd Glippe" STL and array them on your design; then, employ boolean operations to split the model with links. If you choose to remix this project, please mark it as such so I can see your creations.
