Elevation profile map of the eastern, hilly region of the island. The elevation is scaled to 2X the scale of the map. The dark PLA used here is visible mostly as highlights. A lighter colored material should give a better balance of highlights and shadows. Instructions Printed on a MakeBot Replicator 2 in dark blue sparkly PLA, standard resolution (0.2 mm layer height), 10% infill, 2 shells, raft/supports off, on a plexiglass plate covered with BuildTak tape, no heating or cooling, print time 8:20, 0.32 lb filament. The stl file attached is a bit modified from the model in the photo: it has break-away tabs to mitigate warping, and larger letters in the legend. For those who might want to make a similar model of a different place, I have itemized the design workflow, which I got from a video on YouTube by Shapespeare (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzwybr65I9o). The EXCEL file here is that workflow, and it is NOT needed to print the stl file here.
