Multi-well plates come in handy for simultaneous treatment of plant seedlings. The 3D printed insets can be glued to the standard 12 cm square Petri dishes [Greiner Bio-One, Item No.: 688161](https://shop.gbo.com/en/germany/products/bioscience/microbiology-bacteriology/dishes/square-petri-dish/688161.html) to create 4-well, 6-well and 8-well Petri Plates. The plating guide accommodates a 12 cm square plate and marks preferable seeds positions: square holes denote seed positions for root growth assay, round+ square holes mark seed positions for germination assay. Seeds can be placed on the desired position in the plate using a sterile toothpick. Seed positions on the guides for 4- and 6-well plates are optimized for imaging using [SPIRO](https://www.alyonaminina.org/spiro), i.e. distance between the seeds and from the plate edges. 8-well plate is sub-optimal for SPIRO-aided imaging.
