Multiplication Model (Integer/Fractions)
cults3d
This 3D printable model was designed in response to a math teacher's request for a model to demonstrate multiplication at the K-8 level. It can be used to represent both integers and fractions, depending on how the whole is defined and the wording chosen. For instance, what is 3 x 5? This question can be answered using the model by determining the total area covered when three groups of five units are combined. Alternatively, what is the area in square centimeters of a rectangle that measures 3 cm by 5 cm? The model can be used to visualize and calculate this area. Furthermore, assuming each unit on the board represents one square unit, what is the area of a rectangle that is 3/12 unit by 5/12 unit? This question can also be answered using the model.
