In the U-Talent program at the Freudenthal Institute (Utrecht University) we developed and teach a lesson module about Muqarnas, based on http://www.jphogendijk.nl/projects/muqarnas2010.pdf In the lesson module (aimed at 14/15 year olds), students learn to describe the spatial Muqarnas structure with a vertical projection. This projection forms a tiling pattern. Based on this description, students build their own Muqarnas structure. This structure is based on 12 distinct cells, the vertical projection of which is shown in the attachement in the file called individual cells from paper. Previously, the students constructed these individual cells from paper, as shown here in the attachment. Files named constructed paper cells. However, creating the paper cells is time-consuming. Therefore we created 3D models of the Muqarnas cells: An example Top down view, see similarly named file. Front view, see the similarly named file.
