Mustang GT Sound Tube Delete

Mustang GT Sound Tube Delete

The Gen6 Mustang GT has a feature called "Sound Tube", which pipes some additional engine noise into the cabin. Turned out that some people like this and some don't. As I belong to the latter category, I took an idea that many people already had before me and turned it into a printable item: The Sound Tube Delete. Basically it's a plug that goes right into the intake connector of the sound tube of a 5.0L Coyote V8 engine of a 2015-2020 Mustang GT to cut off the noise. I've been told that getting to the holding screw on the firewall side of the Sound Tube is a real b*tch, so I've decided to spare me the hassle of removing the whole thingy and instead mounted the Sound Tube right back over the - now blocked - connector at the intake. The effect is exactly the same as if you would remove the whole thing, but without the bleeding fingers & stuff. The installation is real easy (see pics): - Removing the engine cover (especially the big, ugly UFO from 2018 and later) improves accessibility, but is not strictly necessary. - Pull off the Sound Tube. You'll need pliers to stretch the clamp. - Push the printed plug into the connector tube. This should be a tight fit. Not tight as in "I'll need a hammer for that". You should still be able to push it in manually. - Re-mount the Sound Tube the same way you pulled it off, again using the pliers to stretch the clamp. - Done. I've printed this with .3mm layer height as the grooves provide a little more grip. There's neither UV light nor excessive heat there, so you could probably get away with PLA, but I'd recommend using PETG for added stability.
