These pillars are designed to hold a 1/2" hex nut and allow a 1/2" threaded rod to pass through them. By combining these with some sturdy terrain tiles you can make multi-tiered tabletop terrain for your game. Some notes on the build shown in the pictures: - A SnapMaker 1.0 was used to print all pieces. - Full sized pieces were attached together using superglue. A threaded rod was pushed through both pieces to make sure they lined up perfectly. - Threaded rod was cut into 2" pieces using a metal grinder. A hacksaw would also work. - Boards used in my build were [3/4" MDF](https://www.homedepot.ca/product/alexandria-moulding-3-4-inch-x-24-inch-x-48-inch-mdf-handy-panel/1000165106) This provided a lot of strength and also allowed me to countersink the washer and nut on the bottom piece so that it could sit flush on the table. - MDF boards were covered with cheap foamboard that had the paper removed from both sides. This cheap and thin foam accepts texture really well. White glue was used to attach the thin sheets of foam. - Hex nuts were attached to rods and rods were inserted into pillars during gluing process to make sure that the nuts were glued perfectly perpendicular to the pillar themselves.
