For compact storage of SMD components in a box, I created these holders. When purchased the SMD components often come in a strip cut from a reel. Personally I buy components like capacitors and LEDs most often in strips of 100 to use for prototyping. The strips are delivered rolled-up in a small zip-bag, which I don't find particularly handy. The zip bags are often a bit too large, waist a lot of space, don't give much overview and getting the strip back in the bag is sometimes a struggle. The writing on the bag will often wear off. To fix that I created these holders. Most strips of the components I use are either 8.2mm or 12.2mm wide. Depending on the component size (1206, 0805 or other), each holder is large enough for up to 100 items. The outer size was determined by the height of the box. in my opinion 30x30mm is just right. The holder has a ridge to prevent the strip from falling out. The hole in the middle can be used to wind the strip using tweezers. The corner-holes were added to link multiple holders together, for instance using metal wire, paperclip wire or a piece of filament that can be fused using heat to create a semi-permanent binding.
