Myford Super & Motor Guard: After looking around for examples of various Myford motor guards online and tinkering around with FreeCAD's Sheet Metal WB, I have mocked up a design template (consider it as draft at this stage as I have not actually made the motor guard). The design is to be CNC cut and then bent and welded into shape. A K factor of 0.38 has been used with the assumption of a 1.14mm bend radius and a mild steel sheet thickness of 1.2mm. You can use the bending templates and cut along the outlines in case you do not have access to CNC cutting. All you need is some tin snips and a drill with 4mm bits. (If available) A metal hand shear and a pan brake will make it more easier to cut and bend. The guard has been slightly modified to accommodate for new motors that tend to stick out and this can be seen in the stacked revisions of various motor guards I can see online: ( reference: http://www.myford-lathes.com/Images/large/motor_guard_1_3.JPG ) The design is in metric units, millimeters to be specific and I have included the basic files as follows: 1. FreeCAD design file: Myford_motor_guard.FCStd 2. CAD file for CNC cutting: Myford_motor_guard_Outline_with_corner_relief.dxf 3. PDF file illustrating critical dimesnions: Myford_motor_guard_critical_dimensions.pdf 4. PDF file showing dashed bending lines (to be printed in A3 paper size): Myford_motor_guard_bending_template.pdf (Note: Rename the .doc file extensions to .pdf as we are no longer able to upload PDFs) Update: 28-Feb-2023: Added 1.0 sheet thickness versions with 4mm pop rivets for those unable to weld. 5. FreeCAD design file (riveted): Myford_motor_guard_riveted.FCStd 6. CAD file for CNC cutting (riveted): Myford_motor_guard_Outline_riveted.dxf 7. PDF file showing bending lines (to be printed in A3 paper size): Myford_motor_guard_bending_template_riveted.pdf
