It's a fairly simple advent calendar: Each day, a numbered stick is removed from the side channel, allowing the front-to-back stick to drop a bit further. Hans Gruber is affixed to the front-back stick, so when all of the sideways day sticks are removed, Hans hits the ground... CHRISTMAS!
