Nalgene Sports Bottle Top Adapter

I like Bivo water bottles which have special tops that pour quickly. They're designed as bicycle water bottles, but I wanted something with higher capacity that would work off the bike, so I made this is an adaptor to fit their [Large Gravity Flow Lid](https://drinkbivo.com/collections/all/products/gravity-flow-lid-large) onto a Nalgene wide mouth bottle. It can drain a 1 liter bottle (except for a little stuck in the lid) in under thirteen seconds- faster than most people can comfortably drink. This lid seems quite watertight when the nipple is closed, but it may have problems withstanding changes in pressure at varying altitudes- I have not tested it under those conditions. It should also work for any bottle or container that use compatible threading such as CamelBak (pictured above). New as of September 2023: this has been tested and works with wide mouth Hydro Flask bottles if the part is shortened by a couple of millimeters. The bottom can be cut down, sanded, or made shorter by setting the Z offset in the slicer to -2 millimeters. The gasket may also need to be cut without the notch in it. There are two parts to print: the adapter and a template to cut a gasket. I designed the adaptor so that it should not come into contact with any liquid in the bottle, but it depends on a gasket to do that. I used a 1/16" thick, food grade silicone rubber sheet to make the gasket, cutting it with a hobby knife and the template. The lid is relatively deep, so a 1/8" gasket might work better for some Nalgene bottles with shorter threaded sections. This gasket goes into the Bivo lid, then gets pressed in when the adapter is screwed into the lid on top of it. The adapter should be oriented so that the flat side of the inner thread is facing toward the top of the lid. The adapter should probably stay screwed into the Bivo lid, not on the Nalgene bottle- that way it is less likely to be exposed spilled liquid, and that helps keep the gasket in place. Test the seal when the lid is installed on the bottle by blowing into the nozzle- there should be an airtight and watertight seal. **Food safety precautions:** The adapter should be made food safe just in case it does come into contact with the contents of the Nalgene bottle. This means it should be made out of a food safe material and/or have a food safe coating. Coating it will also prevent buildup of contamination or germs embedded in the material. The part pictured is made of ABS because the clear PLA I use for my bottle doesn't photograph well. The adapter and template can be filament printed as oriented in the file with no supports. Version 2 has a wider lip at the top so the gasket is less likely to have an edge pop loose. Version 3 is untested but is just slightly changed from V2. The Nalgene threading has been updated from a 4mm pitch to 4.23mm, or 6 threads per inch. Converting to TPI is reasonable such an old US product, but probably doesn't make a whole lot of difference over the length of only two threads. Measure the thread pitch on your bottle to determine whether you need version 2 or 3. August 2023: Version 4 has a 4.1mm thread pitch for the Nalgene bottle because that's what I remeasured mine as. The Bivo threads are also a bit taller.
