Nanit Baby Monitor Pole Stand

Nanit Baby Monitor Pole Stand

We recently had our first baby and someone graciously bought us the Nanit Baby Monitor camera. It'll work great once she's in the crib, however we needed a solution so we could watch her while in the bassinet. We bought the Multi-Stand, however it alone was not ideal. The tripod nut in the bottom of the Multi-Stand is nice, but I don't have room for a full-size tripod to be setup. I set out to find a solution that didn't involve buying the $100 Nanit tripod (which is smaller than a normal tripod). I bought a cheap pole lamp @ Target ($9) - a slightly nicer one with a heavier base would be ideal, however this one definitely works fine. I first cut the electrical wire and then took apart the light fixture top to expose the top screw/nipple - this was the piece that allowed me to attach my mount to the pole. The pole was 15.52mm in diameter. There are currently a total of 4 files: The camera stand base This is the main piece that sits on top of the pole lamp. It slides down over the pole and onto the top screw/nipple. There is a hex hole at the top to accommodate an M10-1.00 nut (Hillman brand from the local blue box store). Slide the nut into the hex hole and twist the entire piece onto the screw/nipple to attach. The provided .stl should be in the correct orientation for printing - a small interior support is needed for the hex bolt hole. The camera guard The camera guard slides down three holes in the base to attach. The guard should be glued down. The guard holds the camera to the base, preventing it from falling over if you lean it too far forward. Leg Holder (2 total) For our bassinet, we wanted the camera to be a bit lower - I removed one of the pole sections from the pole lamp, however I wanted to store it to the lamp so I had it for later uses. This holder should be printed twice and attached to the pole to hold the extra pole in place. I did not design this piece - I pulled it from this Pole Clip. I simply shrunk it down to fit. Camera Wire Clips (4-6 total) The camera wire clips attach to the pole - the USB wire from the camera is then attached to each of these to keep the wire neatly attached to the pole. It can be easily removed if the mount is used elsewhere. I have plans to add additional "accessories" to my pole lamp camera mount - i.e. a hook to hang our audio monitor, maybe a dim glow light, etc. I'll add to this if/when I do. All items were designed in Tinkercad - I have no design or cad skills so this is my tool of choice. Feel free to shrink/enlarge the items as needed for your use. Overall this was an easy fix for our need. The multi-stand came at a price, but it can be useful in many other ways whereas the tripod is what it is (and over 2x the price of the multi-stand). I hope it helps the other parents who are looking for any hacks to gain some sleep!
