[The NASA astronaut pin](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Astronaut_Badge#NASA_astronaut_pins) is a lapel pin, worn on civilian clothing. The pin is issued in two grades, silver and gold, with the silver pin awarded to candidates who have successfully completed astronaut training and the gold pin to astronauts who have actually flown in space. [Wikipedia] In the image below, the golden pin can be seen worn by Buzz Aldrin, LEM-pilot on Apollo 11 and the second man to set foot on the moon. ![Buzz Aldrin](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d4/Buzz_Aldrin_in_2019_%28cropped%29.jpg) I redesigned the pin based on photographs. As I could not find any documentation on the actual dimensions of the pin, I designed the pin to be 22mm long. This seemed like a reasonable size for the pin, and it isn't too small to not be producible on most machines. Of course, it can be scaled to your wish. Pay attention if you'd like to make an actual lapel pin with this design using a typical butterfly clutch. If you'd attach my design to a blank lapel pin with the scale I provided, the diameter of the blank can not be bigger than 7mm. These blanks can certainly be found, but are smaller than the typical 10mm ones.
