NASA Bucket Drum Design Challenge V4
grabcad
A compact moon regolith collector that effortlessly gathers lunar soil.As the unit rotates, it expertly collects regolith, which flows into the scoop. The forward motion of the mining cart guarantees a complete fill. Then, as the unit spins, the regolith is efficiently transferred to the internal vortex, guiding it towards the center during excavation operations. Once full and positioned for discharge, the unit reverses direction. The internal vortex then redirects the regolith back out through the scoops into the processing inlet. The flat surface on the rear of the support arm features a vibrator that aids material movement along the vortex (both during mining, discharge, and scooping). This lunar collector has a maximum capacity of 15.5 liters. It was designed to be fabricated using 3D printing technology.
