The NASA CHAMP handrail design incorporates an easily attachable method for simplified manufacturing and use. All dimensions can be found in the part file. The design utilizes a draft angle to provide the necessary friction to keep the handrail in place upon applying a load. Additionally, after completing stress analysis, the part should have no problem supporting 50lbf. with much greater than a 2x safety factor. The pegs on the block can be easily inserted into the counterpart around the rail to provide quick and easy assembling with absolutely no tools required. Lastly, no small parts are included to prevent the fracturing of brittle 3D printed material in the case of a load being applied. The NASA CHAMP handrail will be easily manufactured and assembled for convenience on the International Space Station.
