Finding 12V smart switches can be quite challenging, but ultimately rewarding. I discovered a WIFI version that integrates seamlessly with Home Assistant, allowing for configuration and control from anywhere. To make it function like a regular switch, I built a housing to enclose it and enable local control through the smart controller. Although this device is primarily cloud-based, it can be configured to operate solely on the local network by leveraging parental controls on your router to block web access to specific devices. This setup may require some extra work upfront, but the benefits of having a 12V powered smart switch make it well worth the effort. 1. The switch I'm using is specifically designed for the ST-DC1 controller, which can be controlled through the EweLink phone app. 2. To get this switch working, you'll need to supply both 12V and Ground power. 3. You'll also need a router with WIFI installed in your RV to facilitate setup and control. 4. Internet access is required for initial setup of the switch, but not after that's complete. 5. The V2 Base can accommodate either the switch mentioned above or this one, which has similar capabilities. 6. The V3 Cover features an integrated button as part of its design, making it a necessary component when using the switch listed in point 5.
