By connecting the double slider mechanism with the crank slider mechanism in series, a new mechanism can be formed. The principle of needle bar movement in sewing machines uses this principle. The stroke of the needle bar (grey part) can be changed by changing the distance between the connecting rod (green bar) and the hinge point of the two sliders (yellow parts).
