NEMA 17 Planetary Gearbox!

Hello Guys! This is a small simple planetary gearbox for a nema 17! This is designed to be as small and simple as possible due to this the ratio is only 4.2:1 but for a lot of robotics projects ( like mine, check it out on my website rpmengeerings.com!) its enough for quality tests, proof of concepts and to make something awesome! This is designed to be inline with the motor and now dramatically change its diameter to make sure it fits in places a normal nema 17 would. It is quite a tight tolerance print, make sure to account for elephants foot! I would absolutely love to see any projects this design is used in! so please take a photo and post them! Please support projects like this by visiting my website and following my blog! Note: I recently added a file called "shield A" this is a mildy thicker shield which allows for better fastening and allows for melt in threaded inserts. ---- prep ---- - File away any elephant foot. - Assemble on carrier and rotate system underwater to remove any high spots, continue this process till happy. (This is mostly for noise and motor health) ---- Assembly ----- 1. NEMA plate and carrier are bolted onto nema 17 with carrier on top. (m3 socket head capscrew ~ 12mm ) 2. gears put on carrier and drive shaft. 3. bolts put in ring gear 4. ring gear placed in shield. 5. shield put over rest of assembly. (tip. be patient as make sure rotate to help teeth align.) 6. bolt shield on sides (not absolutely necessary but good practice ) 7. have fun!
