NEMA 17 Precision Gearbox with Position Feedback

thingiverse

This is a 3d printed gearbox design for NEMA 17 stepper motors. It's a precision gearbox with close to zero backlash in the mechanism because it uses GT2 belts and pulleys. Furthermore it has servo-like capabilities as it features an (optional) embedded Hall Effect Sensor + magnet. This makes it possible to write a homing function for the gearbox, essentially making it a servo motor, that knows where it is. Of course an encoder would be even better since it can detect lost steps, but as long as you don't overload it, the will be no lost steps anyway. If you would like to make it, you should definitely watch my video on how to do it: https://youtu.be/e12YoNOyO6M I hope you'll enjoy it!
