Nema 23 Motor Cover

This is my version of the popular back covers for a Nema 23 stepper motor. I used a grabcad file and modified it to include the bolt holes and also added the cable guard for a dual shaft stepper motor. I have included the files for right and left side exit for the wires and one to have a plug out of both sides for series connections (like two motors that run on the same driver as in some cnc routers). THESE ARE FOR THE ACTUAL NEMA 23 MOTORS!! They will NOT work for the 60mm "nema 23" steppers. It is designed to work with the GX16 connectors commonly used with hobby CNC machines. Thanks for the correction on connection type from AlexWYYC, it is not "XLR connectors" although some sellers on ebay refer to them as such. Instructions These connectors can be found on ebay by searching "GX16-4" if you search a little while you can usually find 10 of these for around 10 bucks. You will need to purchase 4 M3x25mm machine screws from your local hardware store. In most cases there is not enough thread depth in the motor screw holes left for the mounting screws, so the motor screws need to be shortened. To do this, unscrew the motor screws ONE at a time (if you do all of them the motor may come apart) and file off a couple of millimeters from the screw length. A total thread depth of 3.5mm is required for`the mounting screws. Next, use a drill and clear the holes that were printed into the motor cover with a #16 drill bit to ensure clearance for the M3 screws. This will also give a little "wiggle room" for the screw if the tolerance is off slightly. These will not make a motor water tight, they are more for aesthetics but just before final assembly, placing a little bead of silicone around the edges would help keep dust and dirt out.
