This is a 5:1 reduction planetary gearbox for Nema 23 stepper motors. Works great with PLA but ABS will last longer. Aside from the 3d printed parts you will need bearings, shafts and bolts. All parts are described in detail below. All parts can be easily found online. I bought them from https://grobotronics.com/ The shafts/shafts come in standard sizes (50 mm 100 mm 200 mm) so you will have to cut them to size. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/vSoQZeXpYAA You have a choice of a 12 mm or an 8 mm output output shaft. Print the parts designated with (8 mm) or (12 mm). The bearings can be hammered into position or pressed with a vice. The output shaft should be hammered into the triangle_top.stl. Check the images for assembly instructions. <b>!! Must use silicone oil or silicone grease inside the gearbox. Running dry will shorten the life of the gearbox and it will not run smoothly !!</b> <b>!! Must use raft where specified to avoid elephant's foot!!</b> <b>!!! Important !!!</b>: Make sure X and Y belts are properly tensioned and X and Y are perfectly perpendicular to each other. Otherwise the gears will be slightly oval and will not run smoothly. Printed on Ender 3 Pro using PLA <b>Parts List:</b> 5x M3x12 Bolts 3x M3x16 Bolts 4x M5x20 Bolts (for mounting the gearbox to the stepper) 5x M3x4 (or M3x5 or M3x6) headless bolts 5x M3 Inserts 3x M3 Nuts 6x 3 mm washers (8.5 outer diameter 3.2 inner diameter used by me) 6x 10x3x4 mm Bearings (Outer diameter x Inner Diameter x Thickness) 3x 3x20 mm shafts (diameter x length) <b>For 8 mm output shaft:</b> 1x 8 mm shaft (at least 30 mm length) 1x 16x8x5 mm Bearing (for 8 mm output shaft) <b>For 12 mm output shaft:</b> 1x 12 mm shaft(at least 30 mm length) 1x 28x12x8 mm Bearing (for 12 mm output shaft) <b>Print settings:</b> Common for all: 2 mm wall thickness, 1.2 mm top and bottom layer Ring_gear.stl: 20%+ infill, Raft optional, support touching builtplate 70% overhang angle. Sun_gear.stl: 100% infill, printed with Raft, no support Planet_gear.stl: 100% infill, printed with Raft, with support (print 3 times) Triangle_bottom.stl: 100% infill, printed with Raft, with support Triangle_top.stl: 100% infill, printed with Raft, No support Cap.stl: 20%+ infill, Raft optional, with support <b>Tips:</b> If you can't turn the planet assembly by hand use a drill to prepare the gearbox. After you complete the planet assemly (check images) insert it into the plain Ring Gear (no stepper or sun gear connected), add oil or grease (important) and use a drill connected to the output shaft to spin the planet assembly fast for a few seconds.
