Neopixel Prototyping Board

This is a prototyping board designed for making patterns for NeoPixel devices.

I'm working on a project using a full strip of NeoPixels, but I wanted a smaller prototyping kit so i didn't have to mess with an entire strip just to work on some patterns. This board includes mounts for an Arduino Uno, a Adafruit NeoPixel stick, and a mini breadboard to hold a capacitor and provide tie-in points for a secondary power supply.

NOTE: If you're running all pixels at full brightness you may exceed the power limits of the Arduino board. Be sure to use a secondary power supply if you need one, or if you're unsure.

There are four designs available:

Original

Original with Mounting Holes

No Breadboard

No Breadboard with Mounting Holes

The "no breadboard" version is useful if you're using a prototyping shield or if you want to link your NeoPixel project to a larger breadboard. Both the original and no breadboard versions have mounting hole options if you want to attach the protoboard to another board or project.

You will need 4 M3 bolts and 2 M2 bolts to attach the Arduino and NeoPixel stick, respectively. You can use a tap but the bolts should be able to form their own threads.

The mounting hole spacing is 120x65mm for the original version and 80x65mm for the no breadboard version.

Parts List

Arduino Uno

Mini Breadboard

Adafruit NeoPixel Stick

1 1000µF Capacitor

Hookup Wire (Solid)

4 M3-6 Bolts

2 M2-6 Bolts

Category: Electronics
