Nesting Heart Shapes

Nesting Heart Shapes

This is a set of heart-shaped pieces that nest together as the base for a Valentine's Day craft project. Instructions Process Using the "Heart Cookie Cutter" thing, as well as a heart-shaped cookie cutter from home, as an inspiration, I traced a heart shape in Inkscape. That SVG file was then taken into 123D Design, where the different L shapes were swept around the profile to generate the final geometry. If you look closely, there's a small glitch on the side of each shape (on the left of one, the right of the other) where the sweep operation couldn't quite finish completely. I could only go 99.99% around the path.Assembly This is pretty simple. Print both pieces, and they fit together. There's no friction, but the two sides do need to be aligned pretty closely - so if you're using these with small children you may need to help them a bit. Maybe a future version will bevel the mating faces a bit to make it easier. Please note Although these pieces use a cookie cutter as their inspiration, I would not recommend using these files as cookie cutters. The thin edge that would cut the dough is actually two filaments of plastic, which can trap dough and would be very hard to wash clean. As I understand the chemistry involved, it is actually not recommended to use any 3d-printed parts in food processes without sealing and doing other prep work. Be careful, do your research, proceed at your own risk, etc.
