Nesting Urban Buildings for 28mm Gaming

thingiverse

This is a set of four buildings for use in 28mm urban/scifi gaming. One nice feature of the set is that they come apart and nest, so it's reasonably easy to pack them up. The first building is a two story, heavily damaged building with a bit of roof left. Building can be printed in three major parts plus a small shim that can be cut and glued to the bottom of the second floor and roof to keep them in position during play. The second building is complete, but with some damage to one side. The building is in three parts, with a removable back wall and roof. I encourage you to be careful with using a brim on this print, because some software will erroneously fill the space that keeps the back wall separate. I have included a version with ears to assist in printing while avoiding warping. The third building has a small second story. Using a cut piece of shim on the bottom of the second floor will help keep it in place, or you could simply glue it. The last building is a simple, one-piece construct. Not so much a remix as inspired by the desert buildings, as well as a number of other ruins. Thanks all for the motivation and ideas! Instructions Don't print the complete models for buildings 1 or 2; rather, print them in parts. The shim is used under the roof in building 2 in addition to being cut and used for second floor and roof in building 1. I printed them in ABS using Simplify3D, using a 0.3mm process for the first 3mm or so and then switching to a 0.15mm process for the rest, but I think they will turn out fine printed at 0.3mm across the board. The roof pieces I originally aligned so that the corrugated bit was vertical, but that really wasn't worth the effort. At 0.1mm layers they turn out great if printed flat (i.e., as-is). I'll post painted pics when I am finished...got distracted making more buildings...
