Neuschwanstein (im sommer version zwei)

Designed by the eccentric King Ludwig II to be an isolated refuge, a hideaway from public in 1968, this whimsical castle is now a popular tourist attraction, capturing the interest and imaginations of visitors all over the world. It is located upon a secluded ridge bounding Pöllat Gorge in Bavaria, which gives it a mysterious setting amidst the mountains. With almost 6000 visitors a day, this castle is always jam-packed with tourists. For those who are unable to visit this castle, or do not wish to withstand the snaking queues, ‘visiting’ this 3D model is a great alternative. Photos used for this model are frames obtained from drone footage of the castle (found here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4z7Ax8DR9M&t=179s). This 3D model was made using agisoft photoscan. Techniques used include optimisation of cameras using markers to cope with difficulties of using image frames from drone videos, and smoothing of textures (which explains the smooth, globular nature of the surrounding vegetation).
