See my video overview at: https://youtu.be/8jks7hs91q8 This part allows yow to replace your aging 14.4V NiCad pack with a modern LIPO pack, bringing the drill new life! The drill shown is a DeWALT DW983 but I believe they used the same pack with many different models. You'll need the following: - An old 14.4V NiCAD pack you are willing to dissasemble - 1 Female XT-60 connector - A bit of wire and soldering skills - A LIPO battery. I suggest a 1800 mah 4S battery. Smaller or slightly bigger sizes will also work. 3S should also work, although the drill will run a bit more slowly. A 4S pack provides 16.8 V fully-charged, which is more than the 15.6V (fully charged) NiCad original. So far mine has not caused any problems but you might partially charge the LIPO if you are conservative. Steps: 1) Dissasamble the old pack by removing the screws. You are going to reuse everything except for the NiCad Cells and the bottom plastic shell. 2) You'll need to remove the connector from the NiCAD cells. They are spot-welded on. I used needle nose pliers. 3) Solder wires to the old connector and to an XT-60 connector. You'll want enough wire to reach the connector as shown in the photo. If your pack has a "thermal resistor" pin. Solder it to the ground terminal. 4) 3D print the new bottom and support piece. See printing tips below. 5) Assemble the bottom, clips from the old pack, XT-60 connecter and support piece as shown in the pictures. 6) Screw the original top cover into the new 3D-printed bottom and you are done The only print setting that probably matters is supports. You'll need them for the battery compartment and for the XT-60 holder. If your slicer tries to put supports in other places (such as the finger grips), you can mask them out if you want to.
