Nikon AF-S 18-55 DX Lens Focus barrel guide bushing

After a lens zoom jam and a pretty wobbly focus barrel, I diagnosed something broken in the lens. Facing a couple hundred dollars for a replacement, I wondered if it could be repaired- and sure enough, these little guide bushings are a common problem. Usually they just slip off, but one of mine was completely broken- with the pieces rattling around within the lens. ..If only I had a machine that could make small custom plastic parts..... <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/FF3w81Nl39o?rel=0" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe> It took a few tries to get a good print( lower the temp and crank the fan) on account of the very small size but after a little finishing up with a fine Dremel attachment, it fits and glides in the lens, which once again has a buttery smooth zoom and a crisp autofocus.
