I was hired as a 3D tutor for the social project “Dein Held in der 3D Welt!”, executed by “NeNa eV” and powered by the “Ich kann was!” initiative of the “Deutsche Telekom Stiftung”, which is aiming on promoting digital literacy among socially disadvantaged children. The whole idea of this project was to communicate to the children the whole pipeline of 3D printing self-designed figurines. I was part of a team of social education workers. My responsibilities were not only to provide care and helping the children bringing their visions to life, but also to design the process and organize the technical work for such an endeavor, which turned out to be a four-day workshop constisting of the following steps: Imagining a hero that was to be 3D printed Creating the hero/avatar with modelling clay Scanning the real life model with a mobile app Enhancing the model within a kid friendly sculpting browser app Have the 3D model 3D printed Paint the printed model with acrylic pens
