Introduction

This Gizmo was made for a Louis Poulsen lamp that we recently bought. The lamp had 3 small (2mm) holes drilled into it, and I thought that it would be cool to add some personality to the lamp.

The design that I went for was something that would look and feel like something from the Fallout Games. Like something from the Nuclear Space Age.

The Design

The plan when designing this thing was to have nuts to fasten the top screw, and also have the spacers slide into indents made for them. But the supports filled out the indentations for the spacers, and the holes for the screws were tight enough to be threaded by the screws themselves, so no nuts are necessary.

Parts needed

See image above for reference

Screws:

4pcs M3x6

1pcs M4x20

Spacers:

2pcs M3x15 + 6

2pcs M3x15

Fastening the Gizmo to the lamp

There's a small nub on the bottom of the bottom part, which slid through the hole in the lampshade. To fasten the Gizmo a small burning torch was used to heat up a screw. You can then "rivet" the Gizmo on the inside of the lampshade by pressing the hot screw against the plastic, thus melting it as a rivet.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Wanhao

Printer:

Wanhao Duplicator i3 Plus

Rafts:

No

Supports:

Doesn't Matter

Resolution:

0.15mm

Infill:

20%

Notes:

When slicing in Cura, and supports were turned on, the supports for the smaller nuts were really hard to remove. Wasn't a problem, since the nuts aren't used in this model anyway

Category: Decor
