Nuphar lutea perennial aquatic plant. Perennial herbaceous plant. Rhizome yellowish-green horizontal, thick, fleshy, 3-10 cm thick, covered with rhomboid-round scars from fallen leaves. Lower leaves are underwater, on short petioles, thin, translucent, with fibrous margins. Floating leaves are ovoid, on long triangular petioles. Leaf blades are round or heart-shaped-oval, leathery, light green in color Flowers floating single, apical, yellow, 4-6 cm in diameter, with a smell. Flowering in June - September. Fruits smooth, multi-nest, 4-5 mm long, ripen on the water surface. Development in water, ripening in August - September.
