Nylon Printing Profile for Replicator 2

Here is the ReplicatorG profile I use for printing with nylon. I consider nylon an advanced/experimental material. Its also twice as expensive as ABS and PLA. Therefore having a profile for printing nylon reliably with good results is all the more important. This profile is for structural applications where part strength is an important consideration. The key features of this profile are as follows: packing density = 1.03 a solid infill diaphragm is printed every 5mm tower module is activate to reduce jumps and thus stringing surface cooling is disabled See instructions for instillation and print settings. Instructions To install this profile you need to open ReplicatorG and select GCode > Edit Slicing Profiles... > Locate and unzip the profile into this folder. To use the profile I recommend the following settings: uncheck Use Raft/Support uncheck Use default start/end gcode check Use Print-O-Matic Filament Diameter = 1.75mm Object Infill = 30% Layer Height = 0.25mm Number of Shells = 2 Feedrate = 90 mm/s Travel Feedrate = 120 mm/s Print Temperature = 255c Resist the urge to print at higher feedrates, nylon can't handle high speed printing like PLA and ABS. I print on a Bakelite build plate. I sand the surface lightly with 120 grit and it wipe down with alcohol. For large parts, I start the print and cancel after the perimeter has printed. Using this outline, I smear an area about 20mm inside from the edge with a thin film of extra light olive oil to help the centre of the nylon print release. Its only the edges that need to stick firmly. Nylon is very tough and impact resistance, but also quite compliant compared to PLA and ABS. For large prints like these I pause the print and embed an aluminium stringer inside the print to increase the rigidity of the part. A 5mm overlap on the top and bottom works extremely well.
