this did fail shortly after the last update, but i have recently found why it failed. turns out the individual bearing pieces were ground down so much, they created a razor sharp edge inside the grove this/the spring mounts, thus quickly slicing anything you put in there to pieces. it probably would have lasted a very long time if i wasn't for the razor sharp parts. i've since gotten a good deal on some 031 o-rings (1-3/4"ID, 1-7/8"OD), and am using 2x of those now that i have fixed the razor sharp parts. Update 3-16-17: this ring has been working wonderfully so far, no signs of stretching or breakage, sounds completely normal when starting/stopping. doubt anybody will ever find or download this, but here it is, a very simple ring meant to be printed in weed wacker/weedeater nylon trimmer line. this replaces the metal spring that tensions the one-way bearing parts. with the yamaha raptor, at least mine, a 2001, it had a major tendency to spin the crank backwards during a backfire, or failed attempt at starting, etc., which results in the one-way bearing parts expanding a ton, thus breaking the spring. i have been using plain old very-low tension rubber bands, and they last for a few months. got tired of replacing the rubber-bands, so i'm gonna try this. (btw, buying the part is very expensive, thus making a printed part really wonderful) the best way to install this, that i have found, is take the one way out and remove the top lipped retainer, remove all the bearings, note the direction of the vertical line, then take either all or 3/4 of the bearings, and slide them onto the ring, then slide the assy back onto the main part, similar to the first pic, then slightly stretch the ring, and insert individual bearings until you are done, then re-assy and put it back in the engine and have fun! end product should look like pic 2.
