I picked up a second hand O scale train car and have begun designing a cheap model of the bogies for tabletop wargaming. My goal is to have a 3d printed frame and side panels made of card stock for cheap Warmachine Terrain. *Edit 4-3-17 - I get some many hits on this that I feel I aught to finish it. the holdup is that my printer died and I've been in process of getting a new printer setup. New printer is an ANET A8. I also picked up some second hand Lionel train cars to look at for design. And I've learned a few tips and tricks for Openscad that might make this a better model. Look for a v2.0 soon. *Edit 10-18-17 - I want to honorably mention this guy:https://www.thingiverse.com/Depronized/abouthttps://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2235152 When I started doing these bogies, I had a Micro3d that could barely do the job. I was fumbling through learning Openscad, and there was nothing else out there. Now I see work like this guy has done and I want to change mine to be like his. So when I pick this up again, expect to see it as a remix. I want to do a version that does not need external parts. A 1 plate full 3d printed bogie. Print Settings Printer: Micro3d Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Resolution: med-high Infill: enough to make a solid part Notes: Wheels are separate from axles and need to be pressed or hammered on. I designed it like that to hide the print bed surface of the parts, as well as make printing easier. Use some kind of wire for the actual axle. You may have to fiddle with it to get the axle assembly into place. Yes, I have printed a handfull of prototypes of these. This is a long way from being complete. Update 12-5-16 Latest print was a terror for assembly. I will have to redesign the press fit axle wheel connection.
